I recently wanted to donate, it's been forever since I did. I go in and she tells me I am permanently deffered. Are all donation centers the same? This was the Blood Institute of Oklahoma. If they are all the same, what do I do now?

Not all at once fellas...seriously, If someone is flagged, is that it? I would really like to hear from some vets on this.

I was flagged from red cross because they said they found certain readings in my blood that were off. I received a letter from them telling me that they couldn't use my blood to donate, but i can go and get blood taken out they just wont use it they will throw it out. What You can do is just show up tell them that you want blood taken out cause u have high blood pressure and see what they tell you.

Just go elsewhere. Different organizations such as the red cross don't share information. I checked because I wanted to donate more often than they allow.

You would get a letter from them telling you why you can't donate. If you moved around frequently back then or lived in a apt building, there is s good chance you missed the original letter. If they flagged you, the reason will be listed in their records when you call the office that was closed. Hopefully it isn't anything bad. It's scary to hear that from the blood bank & not get a answer quickly.

Thanks a lot brothers! They asked if I was donating or therapy purposes...m_groove, I guess that is what you do...They draw the blood, but do not use it. Thai stick, that was another question...I wondered if they shared info. I appreciate you brothers!

There's a lot of reasons they may not let you donate such as places you have lived or visited, high iron or RBC count, tattoo within a year, etc. if they're telling you it's due to some finding in your blood you have a right to know what that is and I would inquire further. Last time I went, about two months ago, I found it interesting when the tech told me that doctors send patients on TRT to reduce high RBC and they are now actually allowed to use that blood where in the past they would discard it.
