In my 3 decadeds of BB I never ask for advice because I know we are all our own best teachers and I have never had partner cuz I workout for me- to be successfull in BB you need to be selfish- its all about you- You need to focus on you . Screw training partners Ive never asked or given a spot in 34 years either. Thats just me- but hey read your own epitap- You got a partner now you are weak???? dump the partner feed the ego- put yourself first

Just my 2 cents, but I would look at my diet first. If you are not feeding the body, then how is it going to grow?

Right on fellas thanks for the input...I kinda have felt the same way about both posts...I have been lifting a couple years ever since I stopped doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu and haven't had a partner this whole time and really was making decent progress then I buddy wanted me t o start lifting with him and I was skeptical about it cause I kinda like doin my own thing....but I think you're right bear I hadn't adjusted my diet at all since and we are doing a little more volume than what I was doing before

Do people ever read books anymore? Do your own programming. Don't randomly follow some routine you found on the interwebz. Don't go on forums and ask some random strangers to fix your diet and traing and expect to be spoon fed information that other people worked for years to figure out. It just makes you look lazy. No offense meant, this is just my opinion.

No way to really pin point it, could be numerous things. Only advice I'd give starting out dont try to keep up with your buddy and go heavy master the form using lighter weight before getting all crazy because you absolutely will develop bad form. Secondly, Diet is where everyone fails, anyone can work out an hour a day, but many dont have the discipline to commit to a diet to reach their goals.

could be your just trying to go heavier too soon. even dropping back ten pounds can make a difference in a few extra reps.
