Ok, I advocate whole foods. There is no such thing as a "meal replacement." Joe Meeko and I talked about this before he committed suicide and he was in agreement with me and told me that everybody he competed with ate whole foods as compared to protein shakes. Now, protein shakes are a great addition with your meal. I advocate that, so long as you add fat to them. I like coconut milk, for both the lipid content and lauric acid content. If I do drink protein shakes, I make sure that I make it with a can of coconut milk. You can also use whole cream or half 'n' half. You can use olive oil or coconut oil also. When I started adding fats with my protein, I noticed it made it more anabolic. Both Vince Gironda and Rheo Blair advocated this also. That's one of the things that made Blair's protein so good, is the addition of whole cream and milk to make it. The added lipid profile made it much more anabolically potent than without it. But, it also was milk and whole eggs based, which was far better than the soy products at the time. Blair called it "Mothers Milk," but, really, it was the fats that did the trick. I know I noticed added benefits from doing this and I think you will too. Give it a try.
