Parents are the most influential role models children are likely to have. Parents need to pay compliments and show respect, kindness, honesty, friendliness, hospitality and generosity to their children and that will encourage them to behave in the same way.

Unfortunately parents don't ask questions, encourage, or just engage in conversation them. If you're dismissive, or always say you're too busy, they may express frustration and stop wanting to share their thoughts and feelings.
 
Most parents, not all today treat their children like they are their friends. The kids don't get any discipline, they practically run the household.

Exactly and therein lies the fucking problem. I am thankful for every ass whooping I ever got. Help mold me from the pussy I could have been into the man I am today. I love my child and would give my own life to save it. But I also love it enough to give it a good ol ass spanking when needed. This (listening, caring, don’t hurt the feelings) approach to parenting is what created these millennials in the first place.

Folks are "too" busy these days with they're own endeavor's (not making excuses for them ) but what I mean is in the old days, me coming up mom stayed home for the most part, I mean she worked too, bit it was while my sister & I.were at school mainly , she was there after hours for us, and gave us unconditional love.

Dad did what he had to do, (as expected , in any time) provided. He was a trucker, some was long hauls, but when he had the opportunity he was a city driver, and he too was there for dinner.

In fact , my dad did a "Great " deal of the cooking, and I have fond memories of watching & learning, & Getting scraps as he did his thing. I am self reliant to this day , I do not need a woman to do my laundry, nor cook for me, I do
it "all" ..! Always have.

The adults nowadays are mixed up themselves about "Family Values" & like you say (doling out an ass whooping when warranted ) I used to get mine, "with a belt"

Then these snooty people chasing the American dream, or out doing their own entertaining, maybe two jobs, or a job and a business Leaves the kids to fend for themselves alot IDK, I don't fully understand alot of it.

But there sure are an awful bunch of Primadonnas' , and think nothing of handing out money to the kids and not even knowing what it's spent on, or too afraid to disclipine em' the right way, and then sit them down and explain.

And nowadays, everythjng is settled with a GUN..! forget going out back & having a. Fist -a- cuff old fashioned fight.

Alot would just pull out a gun and threaten, or actually shoot ya. It's fucked up...!

Strong point Motor. The decline of family values in America has led up to this. There is a lot to blame. But it can all be summed up with the fascination and overwhelming interest in the rest of the world, there is always somebody wanting somebody else’s something. And that does take away from a kids upbringing. Me and the wife say all the time we would rather have been born 100 years earlier.
