9/1/2016 :: [T-122] : We are now in the third trimester of 2016! I have four months left to attain my current goals and head into 2017 with the highest-possible momentum! At the moment I am weighing in on the heavy side of my pace car due to some sloppy eating, but I am getting back into the fight and pushing forward. I had the pleasure last week of having a fan of my YouTube channel fly out from Toronto on a whim; we had a good time taking some hikes and getting in a chest workout that has me very sore right now. I'm going to take these three first days of September to recover, get in some jogging perhaps, and then launch (or re-launch) Ryan John-Baptiste's six-week "Time to Grow" program when the new week begins.

9/2/2016 :: [T-121] : Today I spent every waking moment working either for clients or employers; I'm about to grab a walk before going to bed. Meanwhile, yesterday I had a new experience: An echo-stress test for my heart. Three times in the past twelve months, chest pain has landed me in the emergency room, so the doctors wanted to rule out heart problems. They put me on a treadmill that slowly increased its speed and incline until my heart was pounding, then they took ultrasound images of my heart. The results: I'm quite healthy. At least as far as my heart is concerned. I asked about getting video footage of the event, but they said no.

9/3/2016 :: [T-120] : A full shift at work ended with some actual sharp and rather stabbing pain in my heels, like the nerve endings had simply had enough. I already knew I was only going to go for a casual walk tonight, so the discomfort didn't change anything; but it still wasn't pleasant. Maybe some good solid Leg workouts will help strengthen my calves and ankles for the standing at work. We'll find out over the next month. A new week begins tomorrow!

9/4/2016 :: [T-119] : A new week rejuvenated my thinking. In the early evening I got in my prescribed jog and kept Sunday as my Rest Day. The fatigue of the two hikes I took with my visitor is gone and I'm both mentally and physically looking forward to the six workouts I have planned for the week.

9/5/2016 :: [T-118] : My gym had the gall to close on Labor Day. I just don't even know what to do with that. I would have gone to the other gym I have access to, but once our family barbeque was finally done and cleaned up, there wasn't time for a full workout plus the hour's round-trip drive. So it was another evening walk.

9/6/2016 :: [T-117] : Ugh. Just, ugh. For a month I've been surviving on the ten hours that my workplace has been scheduling me. That paycheck does not go far! But then on the week I really need the free time to finish a television commercial for a client, work suddenly gives me thirty-two hours. So I'm back to spending every waking moment working either for the employer or the client. Plus I have to head to bed early because Wednesday's shift starts at 5:00 a.m. Ugh.

9/7/2016 :: [T-116] : Maybe I picked the wrong month to attempt a Daily Journal Entry for all you readers. "Oh, look, he went for a walk again; how inspiring." I didn't even have time for that today; just whipped out some crunches and headed to bed. See you Thursday.

9/8/2016 :: [T-115] : I got through today on three hours of sleep. I still have the second edit of a television commercial to finish for client review. I am officially whupped and cannot wait for next week. And that's your news for today.

9/9/2016 :: [T-114] : I have absolutely nothing to report. It was another busy day, spread between my cashier work at Safeway and my camera work for COTV. Over eleven hours of standing at one location or another. I am tired.

9/10/2016 :: [T-113] : Though today had no formal exercise to enter in the journal, I did take the family out into the foothills and lava flows of the Cascades for some hiking. We had a good time strolling around Lava Camp Lake and climbing up the path to the Lee Wright Observatory. A few hours out in nature, on foot, was a nice change from the work week.

10/1/2016 :: It is Day One of "Phys-cal" Year 42! I took my quarterly Walk Test this morning, finishing one mile at 11:36, neither my fastest nor my slowest time. After a movie and dinner with a couple of buddies, I got in a Chest workout at Fusion Fitness of Bend. I was not alone, so it didn't get as shirtless as I had planned, but the important thing is that the pecs got woken up for the year ahead. Now I need to grab some benchmark progress photos before bed.

Tiger, what's your Youtube channel? I always like to subscribe to other members channels to give them support, see how they train, etc...
I'm seriously thinking of coming up with one showing how I'm going from relapse to full on comeback...these last few years haven't been good and now that I'm clean and sober and just getting back to the gym I think it'll help occupy my time better or keep me focused on the here and now. Thanks brother...roc.

Sounds like a good motivational idea for those who are currently trying to beat addictions or have recovered.

If you need any help or any advice brother feel free to hit me up. I will be following.

10/2/2016 :: The inertia of August and September took their toll: My Sunday weigh-in was 242.2 when it should be more like 226, so there's a definite battle ahead. For Sunday's cardio I bundled up in the evening for a jog. Sadly, the weather is such that bundling up is probably now the regular situation until next Spring. After that I re-shot my progress photos because yesterday's didn't turn out well.

10/3/2016 :: My main gym, the Redmond Athletic Center, has announced plans to become a 24-hour facility! This will be great for my schedule, enabling me to workout after the kids are in bed! Toward the end of September they announced that it would start on October 1st, so tonight I drove out there around 10:30 p.m. But it was locked up tight. I could see through the front windows that the sign had been changed to announce October 10th. So I guess there's been a delay. It resulted in a small Shoulder workout at home with the dumbbells instead. I look forward to October 10th with great joy.
