how hard is it to make, edit and post vids for YT...is there a certain app I need to get familiar with or can I record straight from my phone?
Reason I'm asking is because I've been wanting to do something similar for quite a while now, post my struggles and before/after progressions from the bottom on up.
That depends on exactly how you want to present it. The videos I make tend to take me a full two days just for the editing - but that's because editing is something I've done for 20 years and very much enjoy. I'm a movie-maker at heart, that's my passion (and some of my income), so I treat each of these episodes like a little film - editing, re-editing, mixing the sound levels, and basically stressing over them until my perfectionism is satisfied. I use a full desktop computer with a $1000 editing program.
But that doesn't mean everyone has to do it that way!
Some people just whip out their cell phone and create a video where they stand there and talk about their workout week. I personally don't recommend that: It's video, make it interesting! SHOW us workouts, and weigh-ins, and things to look at besides your face for ten minutes! A lot of companies now have basic editing software. Most MACs came with a free copy of iMovie for years (I don't know if they still do), which is very good for the simple editor who wants to put some workout footage and commentary into a video.
I guess the short answer is ... I've done it my way for so many years I'm not really educated enough about options for the average guy, but I know they exist. and I would definitely encourage you to look into them. Google "video editing software", for example, and see what that teaches you.
