CLIFFS:
Trevogrumab and garetosmab are experimental drugs being studied in combination with semaglutide to improve weight loss and preserve lean muscle mass in patients with obesity. These drugs are monoclonal antibodies targeting different pathways involved in muscle growth and metabolism. Trevogrumab targets GDF8 (myostatin), while garetosmab targets activin A.
Trevogrumab:
This antibody is designed to block GDF8, a protein that inhibits muscle growth. By neutralizing GDF8, trevogrumab helps to preserve muscle mass.
Garetosmab:
This antibody is designed to block activin A, another protein that inhibits muscle growth. By neutralizing activin A, garetosmab also helps to preserve muscle mass.
