Hi there, I'm Brian, an average guy, husband, and father. I live in Central Oregon with my wife and three kids; I'm a grocery story cashier to pay the bills, and on the side I'm a prize-winning short-film director. (Aiming for feature-length film director but those are more expensive.) I also act and direct at the local community theaters.

I was a skinny kid, then a chunky adult with a beer gut even though I don't drink beer. My interest in the arts and generally sedate hobbies did nothing for my physical well-being and I was too timid to use a gym for years. Even once I got up the courage to use a gym (and learned that gyms are actually not packed with muscleheads ready to laugh at me), I didn't have enough knowledge to make any progress.

In 2008, after gaining weight all the way up to 281, I decided enough was enough and made much more serious efforts to get in shape. Without detailing the last eight years, I am currently in the low 240's and working on dropping off bodyfat as much as possible this year, then returning my focus to muscle gain. (Or "gainz".) I would like, just once, to set foot on a bodybuilding competition stage, if I can wrap my head around all the nutrition and lifting knowledge necessary to get there, and then follow through on that knowledge with consistent action.

That's the basic bio. Any questions?

Thanks for the welcomes! And thanks for not looking at my avatar and going, "Ack! Put some clothes on!" Ha ha.

I started posting my video journal, from the beginning, in the "Journals" forum. Will add all the episodes eventually.

welcome to the board. i was a scrawny kid until my early 20's when i decided i had enough of being the skinny kid. i made some big changes in diet and lifting and things changed with my physique. it was a marathon not a sprint but over time i was able to pack on quite a bit of muscle. im now almost 45 and just under double my weight at 20.
