Muscle soreness doesnt bother me and injury obviously lets you know in a wrong and "too late" kinda way you over did it... but is being lethargic/too sleepy even after you got a good amount of sleep a sign that you are just doing too much?

Some days I just am dragging ass all day no matter how much I slept or how much coffee I drink... and its almost always after consecutive (2-4) straight days of heavy lifting.

Is there no other way around this than to just flat out not train as many days in the week? Or is something else causing this altogether?

*I dont believe its hormonal bc some days I feel fine, and I noticed this happening when I began training again in the months leading back up to being on cycle again.

Adrenal fatigue? Too much protein? Would appreciate some help.

Hows your protective organ supplements ?? Do you take anything for them?? Your Liver will cause several of those issues you stated if the levels are way off so maybe get your bloods done
and see how your Liver, kidneys and other things are working?? Just a thought in my past experiences..

Take a week off, keep the eating up or even more carbs, a week off and you will be stronger, I sware by it esp. if your working in the heat. Listen to the body, if your tired, there’s no point in training and getting hurt. Try working out in the morning this way your done and stay fresh all day.

Also I really think it’s impossible to overtrain if your eating enough, that’s where people fall into that state, carb cutting, not enough fat, and people keep banging away on 4/5 hours of sleep. Going into off season for me, I’m eating McDonald’s before the gym and pancakes at Burger King after the gym just for extra calories

Ya good points, I have taken "accidental" week off periods in the past, meaning I just got lazy/busy and didnt go, feared I backtracked, and was STILL a bit stronger in the gym when I did go.

I dont train usually if I'm dog tired/sleepy, every so often I push myself through and end up lifting more than I thought once I get going, but if I try to suck it up and go, and I feel physically weaker, I'll pull the plug on my wo and go home.

I dropped superdrol 3 days ago and began Apple Cider Vinegar... didnt lift yesterday. Today I was out of bed earlier than I have been, feel a bit fresher than I have.

I feel the same way sometimes. It’s good that you recognize it. I attribute my tiredness sometimes to just getting older. You never know your body could be fighting off a cold or infection. Could wear you down a little. With all the nasty shit in the gym we definitely stimulate our immune systems.

Sometimes when I’m feeling useless I’ll do a circuit. Usually 5 exercises for 5 sets 20 reps. I focus a lot on body weight exercises like dips, push ups, pull ups, rows, leg raises, leg extensions etc. keep it simple. Or if I just worn to shit I’ll hop on the elliptical for 20 and just chill.

I don’t lift too heavy anymore. I have 1 or 2 heavy exercises per body part. Nothing more I have better results overall with higher volume, rest pause, pre exhaust sets.

How your feeling is when I take a week or so off like roc said, When I’m over trained the first thing I notice is after getting good sleep and waking up still tired. Also drop the coffee or any Stims like energy drinks or ephedrine if you do those. One huge factor like roc also said is make sure your getting the right amount of food. My job is really physically demanding, I’m I the construction field so I really have to try to balance out not training to much since I work real hard and long hours.

Good luck!!!!

Ya, as much as I would love to drop caffeine/coffee and give my adrenals a break, I am full blown addicted to them and need them to be sharp for my job.

I "cheated" my rest week and tried to go in tonight bc I had a bit of energy- after my warm up set of 135x10 on bench, I had a sharp pain in my wrist the next time I grabbed the bar for my 2nd warm up set with 185, so I took that as my body telling me to fuck off and pulled the plug on my workout... which other than the pain in my wrist bone, I felt decent for.

Oh well... I just have to accept that this summer I will not be where I want to feel good going to the beach and shit, and thats the price I pay for being a fuckin idiot the last 15 months and slipping the way I did and just take things slower.

I was the same way with coffee, I love the stuff I was getting a large from BIG-B everyday with 4 shots of espresso in it then drinking regular coffee throughout the day. It was hard to drop it and when I did I would get bad headaches for a few days from the withdrawal. After a week or two I couldn’t believe how much better I felt, more energy more focused just all around better feeling. Now I just get a frozen mocha mocha with 4 shots from BIG-B on Sunday’s with my woman. Coffee is good stuff!!! But when over drank it will leave some people feeling burnt out. Don’t sweat being in the shape you wanted to be in this summer, just look at it like you have many months to hit your goal for next summer. ;)

I fucked up and relapsed in March and it threw my year off by a few months- Ive been sober now for 3 months, have money saved up, and will have my own spot soon and sitting at about 5'10, 235 lbs and 13% bf-- far cry from being broke, homeless, hopeless and 197 lbs and 19% bf during the low of my last relapse.

Small price to pay I guess, not where I need to be physically or financially but I got some things accomplished and will be miles ahead of here by next May/June.

Alot of debate on overtraining, i think its very possible. A few years back ( due to change in work schedule ) i decided to literally double everything i was doing. I intially saw a nice strength and endurance boost that spiked for the first month. I quickly hit a major wall, fatigue, rapid strength loss, just overall feeling tired and sluggish. I dont know, its possible i caught something but i really believe i just pushed it way too hard too fast. Im just a gym rat so its possible i wasnt eating/resting enough at the time to justify all the extra stress i was putting my body through. Slow and steady these days.

It sounds like a nice week off would do you wonders. Sometimes just forgetting the iron and just relaxing can go alot farther then alot of guys think.

It's just CNS drain bro. Over training is a gradual regression of performance, usually experienced only by elite sports athletes like Olympic Athletes peaking for competition.

Your lucky to be able to train hard 3-4 days in a row before feeling drained. I can do a push day, then a pull day back to back, but you better believe I'm gonna rest a day or two before I hit legs lol..

I can get that lazy/drained feeling just from a single fullbody workout. You just gotta overcome it bro.

If you really like to train a bunch of days in the week, shorten your workouts to 30-45 min. Less volume, heavier weights. That way you'll keep your CNS stimulated but you won't drain it.

Life, work and family are priority- you want to excel in those areas. Don't waste all your life-force on training. Your results are 90% genetics anyway. As long as you do each exercise with a few progressive sets leading up to a Max set to failure or near failure, that's as hard as you need to train. Just train enough.

Well, i have basically no family or much of a life outside of work, where I spend 50 or so hours a week- Im a recovering addict getting back on my feet in sober living.

I dont "love to train" lol several days a week so much as I just love improving and keeping circulation going. I love it in the sense that I know to do it means to progress.

I slipped a lot this last year, physically and financially, since Ive been sober its made me realize just how much I fucked off, Im impatient to get it back and not afraid of the work... but if its counterproductive, it does me no good.

And are you saying to "overcome it" in the sense of just pushing through workouts on days im super sluggish/lethargic, or to just accept that its gonna be like that sometimes and work around those days?

Interesting topic..my take: Im the type of dude where its zero or 100..so im a low volume/failure trainer. Not a volume guy at all, just hate it and see nothing from it. When you go to failure too much, the cns get totally killed. First sign for me is just cant get going, and cant sleep. So i take a extra day off. No amount of food has helped it, or gear, and they wont help a cns issue. Dorian Yates talked alot about this, and its 100% individual. I feel that Aztek is right on this as well...Could be adrenal. You can also think of overtraining simply as under-recovering, just find the source of it and fix it up. Right now running the helios, with tren and prop, im pretty wound up allday, so i dont touch stims, just so i dont tax the cns at all.

Congratulations on your 3 months bro keep your head up and keep grinding
