Anyone here use Olympic lifting or "squat shoes"/? Esp looking for opinions by guys who have spent years training in regular flat soled or training shoes of any kind and then switched...Notice any benefits or disappointments? I started training as a bodybuilder but when i started getting into PL I widened my stance though compared to most guys my height and heavy squatters they all tend to go much wider. I still feel quad dominant so I have heard if you are quad dominant the OLY shoes can help...

My opinion is you shouldn't use running sneakers for lifting weights. They are for running. You use weight-lifting shoes for lifting weights. I used to lift weights in running sneakers, then I read some books and realized I was being a dumb-ass and purchased some weight lifting shoes. Now I'm actually using the right tool for the job. You wouldn't wear basketball sneakers to play baseball would you?. Anyway I'll never go back to those years of me being an ignorant dumb ass. No offense to anyone meant, I'm calling myself a former dumb-ass.

I used oly shoes for a while and recently went to flat shoes after my June meet when I started squatting again 6 weeks out from my Sept 9th meet.well 2 weeks before the meet switched back to oly and I think that's what fucked my groin up.got through the meet with 512 and hurt my groin pretty bad .it was already strained but I think they made it worse when I pushed thru and used the oly again after doing flats for a while.currently selling my romaleo 2s this week hopefully lol going to flats when I can squat again.til then I'm gonna get this deadlift up.sumo is actually hurting my groin less than conventional

What size are they?. I wear size 11, sometimes 11.5 if they run narrow. What's the heel height on those?. .75 is a bit high. I see the Romalos 3 are .75. I want something with .50 but the closest I've found is .60 which are on Powerlift 3s. Wish Rogue would lower the heel height of their Do-wins. I like the Powerlift 3 but there is no meta-tarsal support.

Nuff said...! Good post..! Been wondering the same, as I've been pondering getting a pair of Inzers, or maybe Adidas lifting shoes, maybe I'll just stick with my old standby.

I used adidas Powerlift they help me a lot to improve my squat form, before them I used running shoes.

Used to lift in bates boots, now I switched to Jordan's and love it. I laugh at the jackass's in bare feet.

Bare feet supposed to help say deads but for squats some people may need more support ...I like to have tight shoes with some ankle support but I usually squat in wrestling shoes which are great for deads but not so much for squats...I dont suffer but Id like to feel if squat shoes make me more stabile and help my quads activate more though most PL would say this is a bad idea. As the will want quads activated but more so hams/glute erectors etc but I squat closer than most

I have some nike metcons that I wear for most of my workouts, but, when squatting, and a few other lifts, I wear adidas powerlift 2s. I love them. My knees are shit from destroying one of them in high school, and they have helped my depth for sure. I mean, I'm not picking up dollar bills off the floor with my ass cheeks, but definitely lower than I have ever squatted in the past with flat shoes like vans or chucks. And they were on sale online about $70 shipped when I got them. I've had them a year and a half, still in pretty decent shape.

Nike romaleos changed my life lol. I feel amazing in squat shoes im able to activate through my heals and get way deeper less stress on my body.

Yeah it is amazing what the right shoes will do for people. I just wish I could find some with a 1/2 inch heel. Smallest heel I can find is .60.

Been thinking of picking up some ryderwear shoes for squatting in. They seem pretty flat and the ankle support seems good as well on the dmacs. Plus they look pretty nice as well.

Personally I think those look like crap. Not enough support and no heel. You need some kind of heel. Ryderwear looks more like wrestling shoes, no meta-tarsal support...Boo.

Thinking about Sabo or Adidas for squats...Wreestling shoes are workin great for deads...MATFLEX3 or 4 ...I forget who recc them but they were cheap AF and wesome for deads

I use a raised toe shoe for deads and it really helps. Squats I do in Chuck's but have considered using the dead shoes
