Need Motivation: Who runs their own business and clears 140k income per year?

When I was young I wanted to be my own boss. Tried it the wrong way. Showing off, and wrong so called friends. and got caught. Cost me 22 yrs of my life. 6 of them on a unwanted vacation to hell. Today, I make maybe 27,000 a year. But I'm to scared to ever attempt anything to make more.
Damn, I wish I had stayed in school and got a career! Instead of dropping out and screwing up. Lol

I lost 5 years of my life doing the same shit bro. Got out and behaved for a while but that's just not me. I try to learn from my mistakes and just keep moving in the right direction. There's a million ways to make money in this country, legal and illegal. You can make it happen! I was a construction foreman making about 60k a year in 2016 and then in 2017 I paid more in Federal taxes than I made total in 2016 lol just gotta make a plan and execute! I worked my ass off all day then came home to grind on my side business. Took a while but all of a sudden things took off for me. Keep hustling bro! If you want it bad enough you will make it happen!

I don't believe it's about how much money you make. It's about how and where you spend it.

I can't even dream of making that much. I'm just a old shovel kicker who made a lot of poor choices in life. And today I have to deal with it. Paycheck to paycheck.
But I want my girls to do better. Have better and live better.

I second that! Many poor choices have kicked my butt! Hoping my kiddos do much better, is all I desire!

I work for an organized trades union. An organizer. Been in the union for 22 years...good and bad. Had my own union shop 10 years ago until the economy took a huge shit and people refused to pay their invoices. I lost 245K that year. Most were expenses, but I never paid myself more than my guys. I could’ve, and benefited from owning the company, but never did. Could’ve easily paid myself 140K a year. Company trucks and investing into my business is as deliberate as I got spending money.

Now I’m happy with my income. Before taxes I’m at 120K a year...but I fucking work 70 hours a week. Members never sleep and call when they need help. It’s a different level of responsibility and I love it!

Ivery That’s unfortunate about the work situation. I know a few friends who lived fast when they were younger. Lost a lot of time in the process and for the most part none of them want to go back to that risk after serving time. Some things just aren’t worth it, and they would rather see their family grow then be buried alive. Hopefully something will break for you in the future. It sounds corny and cliche but money isn’t everything, and piece of mind is priceless.

I don't miss working those kinda hours! I used to be a construction foreman and I worked 60 to 100 hours a week. Got paid so little I had to work overtime or I would be short on cash the next week. It sounds like you were a good boss to work for and I'm sure you had the respect of your employees as well. For me, how I treat others is more important than how I treat myself. I'm sure you layed down at night and slept well knowing that you were doing the best you can by your employees, that is more important than any amount of money!

Thanks for the book suggestions Finisher.

A couple i just finished and found really good we’re “Think and Grow Rich”, “Zero Excuses”, and “A Beginners Guide to Investing”.

Read the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”. Create multiple forms of income, active and passive, for yourself. Best advice I can give anyone. Start small but start somewhere.

I make my own hours and have for a while.

Another good book is “Mutant message down under”.

You nailed it right on the head...take care of your employees! I never thought of myself as being better than anyone. I was in s Team...just do happened that I was the Captain.

I still have guys that worked with me in the field...wondering when I’m coming back. I love it!
