So they only have Smyth machines so I was doing deads had only 4 45s on each side good form not slamming weight at all so the manager comes over and says I can't use that much weight cause it intimidates other members so I got his boss over and said that chick that's sprinting on the treadmtll intimidates me cause I can't run that fast so I said can you please ask her to stop its making me uncomfertable just breaking balls but he said no way I can't do that so I said I can't either I said show me in writing that it says I can't use an amount of weight he couldn't lol what a joke. I told him I said u see that over weight guy doing cardio I said what you think inspires him watching me or another over weight person. God if u wouldn't goto jail these days I'd paid money to just smack the Shit out of him. Never again

I do have a membership at a Planet Fitness near me that used to be a World Gym and some of the old equipment was kept , which includes one squat rack 3 benches 2 leg press machines. Dumbbells go to 80lbs.

Not too shabby for a backup gym.

Fuck planet fitness. It's not about fitness. It's about getting lots of people signed up and not go. It's their business model. That's why it's only 10$ a month

If I would go to that shit hole I would end up in a yelling match with some fucktard

Planet fitness gives out free pizza every month. I've heard the lunk alarm go off many times because someone was grunting too loud.

Their motto is "judgement free zone" which is a crock of shit. You know what? I/we should file a class action lawsuit for getting ridiculed and causing emotional distress. They are no different than ignorant racist people.

Sounds good lol

I wish someone would. There is those stupid ass ads where the kick out the big dude because he is a bodybuilder and they have him saying"I pick thing up I put them down," going with the sterotype that all bodybuilders must be dumb. Or the kids saying "bro" to much. Yep kick them out. Shut them out of your society because they are different, or worse, they actually work out which makes PF regulars feel lazy and small/weak. So instead of asking for advice or using as an example why not just get rid of the problem by kicking them out.

I'd love to get some cheque drops and go in there and show my ass but Shit they didn't have a free weight over 60 pounds guys 115 pounds doing 15sets of cable crosses lol

Anyway, that is just stupid to have a person limited on what they can do in a gym. I am glad I have a gym that pretty much will let people do what they want.

Way deep down under all the purple signs and prissy equipment, I can understand the underlying mission: To encourage the out-of-shape to get off their butts and DO something. I avoided a gym membership for three or four years because I had the notion that gyms were full of big guys who would be watching my meager efforts from across the room and laughing inside - maybe sometimes even out loud. It was a stupid mentality, but it was in my brain anyway. If there had been a Planet Fitness near me when I was in my 20's, I would have gotten a much earlier start on losing this gut and getting my health on the right track.

Unfortunately, they go WAY too far in attempting to bring their philosophy to life. By the time they have muzzled the guys who want to get BIG, and lured the lazy in with the offer of weekly (every Monday) pizza, what they have done is created an incubation chamber for Mediocrity. And along the way, they have taught their members to ridicule the idea of getting strong and muscular. The term "judgment-free zone" is meant to encourage the kind of person I was with the idea that "no one's going to make fun of you." I needed that hope at one time. But then they DO judge! - Over and over and over! They judge anyone who's big, anyone who's strong, anyone who rocks a tanktop pretty much.

So in the end, it's a noble intention that went HORRIBLY wrong.

If I had one near me, I'd make an episode about it in my video journal. Thankfully, they have not infected Central Oregon yet.

Planet Fitness is mainly for the noobs, and once they outgrow that place they will then move onto a better gym.

Definitely. Any average adult male newcomer should outgrow everything PF has to offer within ... two years at the most. If he's still there after that time, he isn't trying.

Wish they just do away with the donut mondays and the pizza fridays for starters and have trainers that do know what they are talking about as well as encouraging members to better themselves.

Planet Fatness, for pussies, we have a sign at our gym drawn up like their logo. Hey I have 3 memberships and not a cushy places and all opened limited hours LOL , even on Chistmas I worked out in the AM and Thanksgiving they close at noon

This is the case with most outfit gyms (24, planet, LA)
Im in very good with a handful of people that work at some of them managers and such and bottom line they say they are in business for the amount of members that DONT come. Crazy as it sounds, but its completely true. What most people dont understand is that at gyms like those only 10% give or take of active members actually GO on a regular basis. If even 20-30% of the members showed up at a given time the gym would be overcapacity by ten fold.

So yes, they are in business to sign memebers they expect to come for a couple weeks and then never go again, and just be to lazy to cancel or have no good reason to since its so damn cheap usually less than a dollar a day to keep the membership INCASE they ever feel they want to go.

As for smaller outfit gyms, id say 80% or more of the active members workout there on a regular basis. Its all a numbers game with big corp gyms.

Oh ya, and planet fitness SUCKS.

OMEGAAAAAA

Haha great you have all the bases covered. I admit I have a membership to Planet Fatness nearest my home that I use as a backup gym as it still had some decent equipment left from when it was a World Gym. With 3 benches, 2 smiths, 2 leg presses dbs to 80 and a squat rack it is darn good for a PF. Two others a few miles further were total crap.

Damn all my gyms 9$ mo, my gym in Braintree you literally can't see the other side without telescope - 8 smith , 5 squat racks , 22 fiat and 12 incline , boxing gym with 18 heavy bags and ring , 5 cable , 8 seated rows. Two sets DB up to 200, 4 standing calf , 4 seated one donkey calf, 7 ham all different angles too then three lines machines for when injury prevents , 20 foot big screen tv for sports in weight room and 25 inches all around . I can't even count all the small benches , two cardio rooms and more beautiful fitness chicks all around then dudes love it
