Anyone know of any good studies done on the positive effects of mental health(depression, anxiety, anger, addiction, ect.) and fitness?

I've heard about many using the gym as a building block for a new foundation when recovering from addiction.

I haven't found much around other mental health illnesses, rather doctors are quick to prescribe something when its very possible that individual could have learned to control it instead of taking something that numbs it.

Lifting has changed my life and saved me since being sober Idk if I would be without it.

I don't know of any "studies" per se' , I'm sure there are many...? You would think..!

I will.say this, even though it takes a certain "Desire" to build ones body, be superior to most, command respect when you walk into a room, aside from being narcicstic, or letting it go to your head, all Ive ever had to go by for example, or inspiration ( there were many ) but 1or 2 come to mind immediately, Arnold, and Bill Pearl, hell, Haney, many more , and not to take away from any that I e not listed (it'd be way too long ) but the correlation of
"Success" that has transpired over to "All" aspects of life, and the accomplishments in particular of. Arnold, has always convinced me enough to give it a go, if I like it, and can stick with it great. If not, I must have some other calling.

Also, well hell yeah in retrospect, I e had a few years away from the Iron depressed (various reasons ) but in hindsight sticking with that would have made all the difference I think.

Back at it now (lifting that is ) going on two years, I ha e come to the realization that stopping/letting gym time take a back seat for "too" long she's a significant part in alot of the ensuring depression.

It is no doubt a "Therapy" and a must for me..

Did you mean for that sound romantic? lol! Yes, someone's physique does speak volumes on one's character. I was looking for raw data on the benefits and couldn't find it, curiosity came from acknowledging that the gym is the place I go when I'm down and keeps me on the right path and saves me money on having to see a therapist... :)
