Mark Bell Slingshot: 1c.jpgI'm considering picking one up to incorporate for some bench training. Surprisingly, I've never used one. Wondering if any of you own or use one, and what your thoughts about it are. Thanks
They come in different resistance (elasticity) and size. He says the yellow one is basically a "Level 3" in the line up (meaning stronger elasticity - more rebound effect).

I like to use my own strength and not have equipment do the work for me. I'd never use anything like that.

It serves a purpose. There was definitely a time that I refrained from all forms of accessories; belt, sleeves, wraps, etc. But in my old ass achy breaky injury prone 50 year well used body, I've had a change of heart over the past few years.
Kins, we'll just go ahead and put you down as a "NO nono1 I have not used the Slingshot"

Well I mean a belt and sleeves for the knees I'd still use. I take my sweet ass time at the gym too and take as many breaks as I need. Those dang 20s running around like got a squirrel up their ass or something kind of annoy me. I just don't want use anything that would make me feel like I could lift more than I could.

Why do you need it? Its going to act like a bench shirt, Which will help you avoid shoulder injuries and things like Pec tears. I used to think you never need that stuff until you are doing your heavy work...Well last year I tor my pec with 315 on the 4th rep 315...are you kidding me? I was not even working hard but it happened. Bad tear too, took 3 anchors to re-attach it. You see those shirts and slingshot holds your shoulders in the right place. When you get fatigued your shoulders drop back and down a bit , most of the time you don't even notice it and that's how you blow a rotator, or blow your pec.. so they can be quite helpful. all it takes is a little mistake and you are injured.

I agree with anything that helps avoid injury. The older I get the more I figure the onjury factor in. I will be looking into this product.

Exactly. Hope you're doing better these days, Drive. I get shoulder (tendon mostly) issues when I work my bench hard. I've had several minor (non surgery required, but debilitating) tendon and pec/delt area muscle strains. Have also strained the upper bicep tendon where it attaches in the shoulder area. I appreciate your post, thank you.

Oh that's for darn sure. The older we get the more ornery we get!

Had my share of injury and aids like the slingshot will come in handy and I am looking to get one as well as a bowtie.

I have 2, different strengths. Really helps with the lockout, you can over load it and make strength gains.
Some tools do work, others are just gadgets. Does help with my bad arthritic shoulders as well. I dont use it often (when feeling good), but sometimes its nice to incorporate it. (When not feeling good).

Marks stuff is usually very useful.

Bet it helps as a form check as well. Read many reviews on the slingshot and definitely going to get one soon. Will my shoulders benefit? I am sure ithey would.

Most likely will get the blue one to start with.

The slingshot is awesome. It will help your bench go uo, great to use when shoulders acting up and can possibly help repair injury depending on location, also OVERLOAD... Very simple (and fun) strength training method. Overload your CNS without taxing your joints. Also will develop great lockout power which if your a bodybuilder you might think who cares? Well your triceps will care and they'll grow. Unless your putting up over 4 or 5 plates I'd stick to level one RED sling shot but both work great. In short get stronger and get bigger... Unless Im doing conjugate and choosing it as ME for a week or 2 I will often do a heavy set then throw the slig on and add weight and bang out a set or two..
)h yes I lift raw but after seeing a video with Donnie Thompson and Ed Coan touting the benefits of raw lifters occasionly using gear I started messing with sling shot and used a squat suit first time ever few weeks back to sumo deadlift... Went heavy AF and felt great

I've seen the red slingie for 55 bucks...not a shabby price. Hope it lasts a good long time and now I need a bigger gym bag for all these toys lol.

it'll help you out a lot hitting 3 plates as you'll be doing over 3 plates with just few practices with sling and then you'll build speed and lockout strength all without taxing your body to much... Again I like to work up to a heavy bench set of say 3-5 then go to the slingshot but you can use it first on occasion and then do lighter sets of reg bench or say dumbell bench for your main assistance lift... It just another tool, some PL like to do Floor Press or PIN PRESS doing half bench or less with way more than they can do full reps with and it gets the CNS primed so when you go to PR 315 will feel like 225!!! Slingshots cool cause it allows you to do that while avoiding burnout or possible injuries... i myself was doing pin press with 405 for reps when my bench was 365 or so and next bench session I had minor pec tear as when I did heavy pinpress I felt a little strain but foolishly ignored it

Oh yes so now I so want one. Found an Amazon gift card that I had stashed for ages so will soon be purchasing one as Amazon has the slingies. Gonna be fun benching with this and soon will be on cycle.
