I put this here so more would see it as I think its important. Under the incredible guidance of Gym Junkie I started a run a month ago that has been amazing. Despite jamming him up daily with bro science he has kept me grounded and on task. Not looking for stage presence at 44; just a nice build and the remnants of a 6 pack. 12-14% b/f suits me just fine. I no longer have the heart to go sub 10's and I love beer and pizza on saturdays.
Now that we have that out of the way....when I started my run I noticed I began having some breathing issues. I chalked it up to my ped selection. Couple weeks later I could barely walk a flight of stairs, energy was low, insomnia set in and food became an obsession. I was shocked and pissed but pushed through.
Friday I had enough and went to my doctor. He nearly punched me in the face. My lung capacity was shit and I had double massive ear infections he said had set in for some time. I had also developed walking pneumonia since I did not take care of of my cold at the beginning and worked out through it. I was putting a MASSIVE strain on my heart as my oxygen levels couldnt keep up with demand. After heavy sets I would be bent over gasping for air like I just sprinted a marathon. Not smart and could have been it.
Moral of the story. We know our bodies and none of us are pussies. Push through when its mental but, fucking stop yourself when you know its physical and something is wrong. Go see your doctor and be honest with everything you are doing. The right one wont judge you and will be able to better treat you!!!! I wasted some time over the last 30 days not taking care of it because I was stubborn. Kinda defeats the purpose of what we do doesnt it?
Hit it hard brothers but hit it smart and ALWAYS listen to what your body is telling you!!!
