OK guys. Most of us go to the extreme trying to get bigger, stronger, more ripped etc. Extreme weights, caloric intake and sometimes AAS use. As a result, it's not uncommon to get injured. So, let's share our battle wounds/stories. I'm 45 and as I got older, got more injury plagued. I've had:

* Full left distal biceps tendon rupture. Surgically reattached.
* Partial right and left pec tears
* Right triceps partial tear
* Couple of herniations in the neck and low back.

Getting old sucks, lol. But I still keep going, am able to maintain a decent bodyweight of 235-240 lbs, but had to switch up my training style a little. Much lighter weights, avoid certain exercises, more super sets and pre-exhausts. Managed to keep a lot of the gains. I have to say I do miss going in and going crazy with heavy weights and sometimes it's hard to keep the ego in check, but consistency means more to me at this point.

What about you guys - any serious injuries you've had to bounce back from?

I'm 51 and I haven't gotten injured in 12 years . When I was a young idiot I didn't learn now older I'm strongest by leaps and bounds even after my spine surgery in 1995 shattered in aikijujutsu - I've not purchased or used a belt or knee brace or any - I train my weak parts and use exercise to remain injury free. I still train 6 days week In gym , my warm ups are probably max weights to most , plus I'm ripped year round at 260 got all my hair ,bodybuilding the fountain of youth ! Only diff is instead of traveling the world training in martial arts for 12 hours day or fighting a war , I teach / train 4 hours day work three jobs on top of BB

Doing heavy deadlifts twice a week for years.... always thought if I got an injury it would be from that. Tore my bicep 2 months ago... not from weight lifting but from falling down some damn stairs. Surgeon said to figure a good year before I'm back to where I was. At 64 I'm running out of time lol.

I have torn both rotator cuff tendons and both bicep long head tendons, I had double hernia surgery, I have tendonosis in my quadriceps tendon, I have arthritis in my ankle, and I had tendonitis in my elbow. I had surgery to repair my shoulders and now have anchors in both of them, I have mesh in my stomach for the hernias I had, I need to go to physical therapy for my quad tendon, I have to get an mri on my ankle to find out why I lose stability in it all the time, and I had two cortisone shots in my elbow! That is all the major injuries in the last 25+ years. I have had little pulls and strains and tears but they healed up without any doctors or hospitals. It definitely sucks getting old! When I get injured now it takes a lot longer to heal than it did when I was younger. I preach to the younger guys now what the older guys preached to me when I was young lol.

Thanks

Wow I hear you ! 51 41 years of combat sports etc , shattered spine , blew tri - I set off metal detectors constantly, fortunately I'm expert in self healing but me too if I injure soft tissue ( muscle or ligament ) minimum 9 months of healing but I never stop training - that's what they make machines for so one can train around injuries. Even after my spine surgery I managed to figure out whole routine without compressing my spine . I still train my forearm before bis so I can hit it pain free. Warms and loosens my tendons lol
