I'm talking just a simple 8oz sirloin here. I've googled it and it can't be that complicated.

Gas stove top with a pan:
Do I throw butter in, turn it up as hot as it will go, then throw the steak in and keep flipping it back and forth every minute for 6-10 minutes?

Since medium rare Is the only way to go, I'll give you these simple directions. Throw some butter in the skillet, turn heat to a 6 (mine goes-warm,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,hi) when the butter melts and is hot enough to sizzle a drop of water throw your steak in. Cook approx 4 minutes on that side and then flip it. Cook on the opposite side for 3-4 minutes. Take steak out of pan and put a slice of butter on top and let sit for 5 minutes. It will continue to cook while it cools. Serve and eat.

Need an old school iron pan and a seasoned one! Turn the heat on high, let that pan heat up till it smokes, add olive oil, and oil the pan, have ur steak ready and I mean sitting out for at least an hour in room temp. Add steak and flip over in a min, then do the same to the other side, then cook 3 min a side, let the steak rest on a plate and enjoy

Thank you both; I'll try both of these tomorrow (steak for lunch and dinner).
Tonight I just did the sous vide method as usual; perfect steak, but I feel like a bitch not knowing how to cook a steak the old fashioned way.

Only flip a steak once. 3-4 minutes first side then flip and let go for 1-2 more minutes. Let rest 5-7 minutes.

If you like it a bit more well done after you cut off the heat cover the pan it's in while the meat is resting it'll help it to cook through. I always use this method with chicken and pork! I prefer my beef and fish med rare to rare.

This 100%

I get steak season it, put Italian dressing and poke it with fork or beat meat clever.
Add Cajun powder garlic powder it's a liquid maranide.
Let sit 12 hours.
Gas best. Let hot plate get hot and bam.
Done in 5 minutes.
On gas grill use big flat black pot or make hotplate welding supply shops make cure and sell!!
Then grill onions, bell pepper and zucini and squash oh sliced tomatoes too.
Bam throw some fresh shrimp and u can get some from a woman.

Also this works well will sirloin, ribeyes, new York strip and t-bone

Now I can do good on a pit too.
Let coals burn until only red with no flame close vebt.
Kegg cut in half with high put on and grill made to fit works great for custom pit

NY STRIPS, T BONES, and FILETS.

Lots of butter.
Garlic
Jakes Rub
Italian Seasoning

If on pan slice it into strips for a faster cook.

If on grill Low And Slow. It makes the most tender, soft, flavorful steak IMO.

The way I poke with fork and marinate comes out tender as can be.
Meat clever too beating.
Italian dressing really sets in there and makes tender.

I cook on high for medium rare and Lower for medium done.
But my wife doesn't eat pink.
I pull hers off after, I kill heat or fire and leave on each side minute or so.
But wrapping in foil immediately after pulling off medium rare will turn into medium done just from heat

On grill 4 min a side 5 if bigger size ... Only flip once and cook on medium-high... Comes out perfect medium rare, a bit more on rare side...Now on a stove or oven I have no clue..I use my grill all year...the stove ruins it IMO or atleast mine cause im not good with it... With Fish I like my fish nice and moist so I wrap in foil the day b4 if possible in loads of olive oil and do 7 min per side for salmon or swordfish (bit less or more depending on size) and double wrap in foil cause when it leaks oil the grill will put out big ass flames lol.. Still comes out crumbling with fork and nice and soft..no dry ass fish for me

This is exactly how I do it. Cast iron pans are my favorite.

I gotta take photo of my cast iron outdoor burner set up.
It's cast iron hot plate on stand gas connects.
There is a vally or gutter v bar at sloped end. It's made to press on 2 empty cans or beer cans to catch grease or any run off.
Gonna get photos it's at shop at parents place.
U guys will love this set up!!!

Sounds awesome. I like the run off idea. Cast iron just cooks different. I always season it with olive oil and the longer you have it...... the better everything tastes.

Normally I don’t eat a lot of red meat I do also prefer steaks cooked medium rare and still juicy enough. Best way to go imo.

I am a red meat eater.
Lean ground beef I can live on cooked different ways. Steaks, roast.
Chicken is just so dry.... most ways.
I like pork loin that is dry too though..

I like pork and cooking it in a crock pot really keeps it moist and tender. Same with chicken.

Bought 3 20 0z sirloins today. Cut them in half and grilling for dinner. and meal preping for the week. A great steak is on the grill.
