Hey all! Hope everyone had a great Christmas! When I got home from visiting family out of town I found my house broken into and looted. I have home owners insurance, but they won't cover the cash taken, or my little fireproof safe full of gear, obviously not reported. They also stole a pistol, all my TVs, microwave, and cleaned out the fridge? Which I found odd, because they left my race car and tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools in the garage completely alone. Anyway, I'm thinking insurance is the only way to go. What do you guys think?

Damn brother!!!
That sucks. I hate thieves with a passion. Definitely do insurance. Double check with them they won't do cash unto a certain amount. Ive had to claim Ins about 5 years ago through homeowners although my car was broken into in my garage. I had a great deal of cash in there. they covered about 70% after saying they wouldn't cover any.

The offer is definitely generous and I'm taking it to heart brother, I have friends who are going to cover me until I can get an order but seriously awesome gesture and I'll remember it. As far as insurance I will for sure do that!!!! I'm thinking the worst is that someone was in my house. I don't think I'll really be out that much. And my stash lol I was very fond of my little nest egg of goodies but I will rebuild it. I'm fortunate enough to be able bodied and working, and I'll soon have enough to start rebuilding.

Thank you brother. Yes I'm beginning to see that as the worst part of this. Material things can be replaced. No one was home so no one was hurt. But someone was here... Definitely buying a new pistol.

You know, as I think about that. I really doubt I could use the damn gun if I had to. I think the only way I could would be if my wife was in danger. I'm not a confrontational guy. Not a fighter or a tough guy really. For myself I know I'd be OK if I got beat up, I'd live. But my wife..I think that's the only way I could ever do it. Would be to protect her.

A car broken into in your garage or driveway can be claimed on homeowners insurance and your policy specifies how much cash is covered.

Yes, I had to claim homeowners insurance. They first told me I was not going to recoup any cash. I had to argue with them. I had a very large amount of cash in my vehicle in a money bag. But that wasn't odd for me as we do large deposits on saturday morning for our businesses. It was a argument for about 2 weeks till they conceded and covered about 70% of the cash stolen.

Sucks more morons will be on the streets now robbing with guns... To bad you weren't there locked and loaded... I still hate myself for doing shit like this when I was a kid(to a lesser extent was more of a drunken dare/having fun)...My dumb ass broke into a house of girl I used to know. Why? We had ran out of beer and the kid I was with was her cousin. He told me how to get in and that there was ALWAYS a 30 pack in the fridge. I got in the house opened the fridge and dog started barking LOL...I bolted and we took off. Lucky I didnt get pumped full of lead. But the kid told his friend who was also a cousin of this girl(small town mountain life). He told her and her family was going to call the cops but she talked them out of it. Then at school she cracked me one and I tried denying it but the gig was up when she told me I'd been ratted out. Of course the person who ratted me out was the kid who mastermided the whole thing and was just having a couple beers while I was totally hammered and back then as a teenager once I started I didnt stop till passed out and steeling beer seemed like a joke to me. Not till I grew upo a bit did I realize how serious it was...

Hey buddy we have all done stuff as kids (under the influence of alcohol usually lol) that we look back on. It is scary that now these criminals have a gun (if they didn't already). I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and thoughts and to everyone who offered me help, so generous of you guys. Like I said I have some friends in my city that have helped me out as far as gear while I waited on more but it's so cool that you guys would reach out to me like that. I won't forget it.
