Can Intra-set stretching cause Hypertrophy?

Today’s Muscle PhD Academy looks at a fairly new technique to elicit hypertrophy. Intra-set stretching is where you complete a set of any exercise then perform a stretch in the lengthened position.
In my lab we put this technique to the test. We took participants and put them on a calf raise protocol. One group performed normal sets of calf raises while the other group did the same protocol with 30 seconds of weighted stretches after each set.
What did we find? The group that did intra-set stretching had better strength gains and greater muscle thickness!
So what happened? There are a few theories. This includes cell swelling where the metabolic stress from the weighted stretching caused hypertrophy. The other theory is that hyperplasia may have occurred, where there was an increase in muscle due to the addition of new muscle fibers.

This I believe is faulty study . Pretty sure you can find just as many that refute this theory . It's actually counter productive to stretch during weight workout. There are so many theories that have been around stretching etc . Most studies regarding bodybuilding are few and poorly structured. I myself having 40 years of daily martial art experience and my main expertise and 30 years bodybuilding along with masters degree and I did Start the pursuit of my ph.d but hate school more then anything you can imagine so I stopped short. Two totally different goals and training . More evidence and my personal opinion stretching benefit comes after you exercise not within not as warm up . People don't understand how dangerous stretching incorrect can be . The wrong time the wrong way. In fact when I worked part time in physical therapy office years ago - majority of injury was from people in yoga . No not contact sports but yoga and certain martial arts that emphasizes stretching . I'm just saying one study from anyone means nothing . Only when a study has been validated several times does it hold any valid proof.
