So anyone in the powerlifting world remember Big Iron Gym? I'm sure you do! It's where I grew up at, in more ways than one. Well, an old disciple of the late great Rick Hussey has opened a new big iron gym, in honor of the powerlifting legend. We're a small team right now but we have some strong lifters! Had a great raw bench day, back to the old regimen. Just wanted to share that with any fellow power lifters here

Officially training for a UPA meet in November. I'm going to be lifting in gear. Goals are 760 squat, 550 bench and 600 DL

That's awesome big super excited for you! I wish you the best of luck man!!! and congrats on your new gym home

Sounds awesome my man. You power lifters are a 'unusual' group. You train differently the average lifter and dietary habits are unique as well. You guys are a different breed....no offense my friend. Good ta hear about the grand opening and I wish the best and growth for your team.

I always remember reading about Rick on the PL forums. Died in 2010-2011 or so?? All I ever heard was great things, great coach, etc.
Nice... Lift in his honor, I hope the gym is around for a long time!

He was a polarizing person. He took a group of people who had no direct, no future, no respect, no chance of staying out of prison lol and he gave us a home. To some of us not just a gym home but he actually opened his home so you had a roof over your head. He took a group of misfits and sculpted us into human beings who would actually benefit our society. And, many of those people also became world record holders in powerlifting.

Always liked Bill Kazmaier since we're talking about powerlifting. He was a beast
