What is bacteriostatic?

"Bacteriostatic" is a preservative called benzyl alcohol that is added to sterile water products to prolong their shelf life. Thus making it a "multi-dose" injectable called bacteriostatic water.

What is the difference between bacteriostatic water and sterile water for injection?

Bacteriostatic water for injection contains a bacteriostatic preservative called benzyl alcohol that is added into the sterile water.

Sterile Water for injection is used for single dose injections. Sterile water is preservative free.
