Personally, I've always downed a shake or bar within 15-30 minutes after my workout. And almost always throw 5gms of creatine in with it. Then have a meal within 60-90 minutes after shake/bar.
What do you think? Or maybe as long as a person keep to their diet and hit their macros, the timing of a meal/shake doesn't matter?

I believe in the 40-45 minutes window of opportunity.!
Your alot like myself.

Yeah, we do have a lot in common. Sometimes after workout I'm so damn hungry I feel like I'm going to pass out. But the main reason is that "window of opportunity." Hell, as I've gotten older I've even taken a break a couple times to down a protein bar. And I never used to do that.

I'm fortunate, @ work I have my own fridge, micro, coffeepot, & a small convection/broiler type oven, forgot the brand, but in of the more common nicer ones from Amazon-, I keep a post workout tub of. Stuff in the car, so depending when/where I train I can just make a paper funnel, (unless I have one of my Shaker bottle with ) & do a scoop, or a double to hold me over.

Then alot of times I'll stop at a decent Coney that does breakfast special's & scarf like a glutton..Lol..

Trying to be more consistent with the meal prep @ home,. & Just grab n go..! Used to cook all my food on the Barbie Sunday & Wednesday, regardless if the weather. I've been out in front in knee deep snow with my Weber cranking chx, steaks , sweet potatoes, grilled veggies. You name it,
I'll eat it. No prejudice against any food.

And , yes protien bars , or RTD's on hand always too in case I get a task which keeps me from eating right , ( on the fly ) while wrenching, or whatever ..!

Eating cottage cheese out of the tub, as I write this.
Yumm..

That's cool to have all those goodies at work. I've always been a big eater and make my own meals and throw in the tupperware. But all I had was aluminum foil to wrap meat and put by the engine of my stucco mixer and rely on the sun and heat from mixer to warm my stuff up. Haha... I'll even put beefaroni in the sun and eat right out of the can. And in winter back home I'd put my grill right outside my patio door. Just open door and flip burgers, steaks, chicken, whatever. And I still put Powerbars and a can or two of tuna in my gym bag. There's some stuff a man shouldn't leave home without. And foods one of em.
Cottage cheese and pineapple chunks one of my all time favorites!! Same with a tablespoon of peanut butter and 16oz of whole milk.
Damn, I'm getting hungry. Haha...

Haha, shit..We do have Lots in common..!

Ditto, been eating that since a kid, well before Training bug hit. Are you a Leo too....? Crazy, but not a that crazy,
I think peeps just come up.at certain times and alot of commonalities. Inherited by our parents I suppose ...!

I drink my post workout shake right when I get home from the gym about 10-15mins after my last set.

Thanks

Haha... no, Virgo. And yeah, a lot of trial and error as well. I never really fully understood the importance of a good diet til I had a couple cycles under my belt. And although I got good gains from a "decent" diet, the gains are much better once you figure everything out and put it to work.

I use to do that too....like 20 years ago. Fuck, Im hungry 24/7! Id be a fat ass!!!

Well I take psyllium husks so that helps with hunger a lot. Also used to eat by the clock but I don't believe meal timing has much to do with anything.

Active ingredient in Metamucil. Google it. Very healthy for you. I take Now Whole psyllim husks and also combine it with Metamucil. Just don't start with too much...

Why don't you just eat your veggies, broccoli,. Salads, cauliflower, greens (in abundance), even "better" for you

I have a far ride to work after the gym. I eat hard boiled eggs..3 whole ones and 12 just the whites...and my post workout carb is usually unfrosted poptarts...then I’ll bang out a meal every 3-4 hours depending on how work is

I wish I could eat that many hard boiled eggs!! Stomach won't let me now but I do manage 4 at a time. Aren't those pop tarts still just mostly sugar even though they're unfrosted? But good enough to hold you over for awhile.
