Had left shoulder surgically repaired years ago now right one acts up time to time. Not horrible but definitely aggravated anytime shoulders involved. Get slight clicking when doing rotation almost feels like it’s stuck for a second Anyone get something like this and have a good way to effectively work shoulders around it? I’ve tried differnt angles/grips on raised etc

I had major labrum issues a few years ago, saw a ortho and he gave me two options, one was of course surgery and the second was swimming.. Yes I said swimming as water therapy works the muscles with LESS stress on
them which lessons the risk of injury.. So I took the swimming instead of surgery and I no longer have to get surgery and these OLD shoulders are holding up good for now..

Thanks perfect time of year to try that out. Will be living in the pool the next several weeks.

Never had surgery but I definitely get the 'clicking' sound from an injury I sustained years ago. I find that using dumbbells allow for a natural movement over barbells and experience little/no discomfort. I'll go heavy with lower reps with dumbbells and lighter weight higher reps with barbells.

You probably have shoulder impingement. Basically your tendons get pinched. Ice after every workout and get cortisone shot. The surgery basically shave the bone down in 30 days you back at gym

My shoulder really doesn't bother me that much to the point of me going that route. I really only have discomfort if its propped in a position for awhile....then it will get a little tight.

Thanks yeah been trying lately to avoid barbells as much as I love them. Got a week of vacation coming up hopefully rest and ice will help it along

Thanks That’s basically what they did in my left shoulder years ago. Sub decompression or whatever they called it taking part of the ac joint out.

I am VERY familiar shoulder pain! Just had surgery last winter on my left shoulder. Went through all that, only to find out they misdiagnosed the issue & I now have to have surgery again for the same problem. Can't even begin to tell you how frustrated I am...

Anyway, it could be a # of things. Could be a cuff tear, labrum tear, impingement, arthritis, etc. Popping usually happens when almost anything is damaged in the shoulder, even if it doesn't require surgery. You can ice it down & take pain relievers for temporary relief. That's what I'm doing, until I get it fixed.

Imo, if it is becoming a big problem for ya... just go to the dr & get an mri or exray. Some bro's I met on other bb forums had suggested peptides & all kinds of things to help fix shoulders issues, but sometimes sugery is the only way to fix the problem.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry your going through bs all over again to correct something that should have been done the first time around. Yeah I’m trying to work around it for now but probably only delaying the inevitable. Good luck with your surgery/recovery

I was supposed to have surgery on my left shoulder on February 7th and I backed out last minute after researching and reading bad results from a lot of people. I stopped doing bench with barbell and only use dumbbells now. I started off using only 20-25 lb dumbbells for bench, incline and flat. Also I only use dumbbells for shoulder press. It took me some time with light weight to start getting my strength back. It used to hurt so bad that the 25’s were almost too much. Fast forward to now and I used 100lb db’s on my incline bench today. Only very slight pain. To this day if I put anything over 135 on the straight bar for bench I start to get bad pain. I originally injured it putting only 275 on for bench and on my third rep my shoulder gave out and the pain was a solid ten out of ten.

My right shoulder gets sore now sometimes from favoring it but it’s also getting better.

Try training with light weight for a couple months. It might work for you, it definitely helped me out.

Good luck

Thanks I’d rather avoid surgery if possible. I agree it doesn’t always work the way they say. Had my left done years ago and still have issues now and then. I’ll work the dumbbells and see what I can do.
