Pinched Nerve?

Last week I woke up to what I am going to refer to as a pinched nerve in my back, on the left side of my spine near the shoulder blade. If I move wrong, it sends an electric zing of a rather unpleasant nature through my shoulder into my left pec, and also down my arm to my thumb. I've had some people already suggest a deep-tissue massage, but thought I'd see if anyone else had thoughts.

Sounds like you pinched the nerve in your lower neck. Very possible you turned your head while working out. Aleve may be your friend and a cheap trip to a chiropractor

On my budget, the chiropracter isn't cheap. Hoping a massage will work it out, or it will go away by itself.

It will go away on its own if allowed to cool down. Hot showers/heating pad. Aleve for swelling. Don't turn your head while lifting again. Now that it happened once it could happen again. Find a point of focus and stick to it while lifting.

Well, I don't know for sure that it has anything to do with turning my head. The very first time it ever happened, a few years ago, I hadn't been working out at all. Woke up in a hotel room with a horrible pinched nerve that lasted for a month. Same feeling here. To my knowledge I do focus straight ahead while lifting, but I will keep an eye on that in the future just to be sure.

I have a fused neck and actually have had a lot issues with this and it sucks I personally will get in the shower and bring a hand towel and wrap it around my neck for that moist heat. Ibuprofen helps and someone mentioned how you sleep I will have to sleep on my back with my arms to my side you don't want to impinged your shoulders at all. From there it's just being aware of it and trying to make sure your posture is correct at all times and you take it easy. Hope some of this might help I've been dealing with this for 15 yrs now

Bro I feel your pain. Fused in 1997 and deal with it everyday. Sucks

Im dealing with the same problem. Rolled over in bed and felt it pinch. Left arm went numb to my thumb. And lost all strenth in left shoulder. Doc said i have bulging disc at 5th and 6th vertabre. Went to chiro 6 times that helped a little but had to take two rounds of steroids and muscle relaxers to be able to sleep. Ended up at orthopedic doc and he said damage is done. The pain finely quit but still numb and no strength. Ortho doc said if you have no pain anymore just give it time and it will slowly get better and eventually gain strength back. Best thing is stop lifting till pain is gone then start with real lite weight when you feel its possible. Doc also said if you can lift lite weight a physical therapist is pointless. Fyi Good luck bro.
