I liked Muhammad but he was a draft dodger. I lost a lot of respect from him being a coward and not stepping up to a call of duty for his country. But I still look up to him as a boxer!

he's a legend in my opinion. i know some people think he was over rated but he had the heart of a lion. never gave up. gotta respect that.

If you judge a man by one thing...then yes, he was great. He was a great boxer. I can't respect a man who let's others shed their blood while he benefits from this country that he won't even fight for. The people society places on a pedestal amazes me!

I remember being a kid I seen every interview and every fight Ali won and lost - he was once in a century fighter - his personality , charisma and his skill the whole rope a dope notion - no one like him ever ! I don't get anyone not understanding that ?? Unless maybe you weren't old enough to see him first hand . Personally Ali , joe Frazier , ken norton , foreman best heavy weights still, not including Tyson in his prime ! Then Duran , sugar ray Leonard I saw every Olympic and professional fight he ever fought ! After memories of Ali , Tyson , Duran and Leonard I can't even bare to watch boxing today . Yeah some good fighters but these guys brought something to the ring no one else could . Then again being a 40 year martial artists of 18 plus styles and combat veteran I can't even find it within to be interested in sport fighting like you'd think id love mma or UFC but no hate it lol I'm just weird have particular taste . Being a child when the greats fought I was mentally in different place . Hell I loved WWF male soap opera lol

I'm also army vet / desert storm. Ali was in Vietnam era , the hippi peace era where the vets we're spit on by American citizens upon returning from horrible war. You can't judge some one not taking in the context of the times. Ali was very religious and this was time when Martin Luther king / Malcolm X and civil rights were worse for minority citizens then than now if you can even imagine . So it's really not reAlistic or fair to say . Really ! I still get angry now when people compare the Middle East to Vietnam and talk about taking troops away. So many ignorant kids never been there , have no idea what its. Like and it was worse way worse back then. Ali was actually a diplomat of peace and civil rights in a time when people we're assassinated and murdered for these beliefs . We now live in a time were football players can't celibrate a big play or calling some one names becomes a federal case - a county full of whimps, pussies and cry babies and me and my military colleagues spill our blood , lose our limbs yet allow people the right to stay ignorant lol it's disgusting ! I been there lived it.
( sooner I know you get it so my tangein though I elaborate on your post I believe you posted that you also are my army bro - I know that )

Just reviewing all these posts brings back all chats I've had I'm sure you too had to bear ignorant people talking shit who just have no idea what serving and duty are ! I fought for my country and hearing so many talk against us makes me sick and disgusted. Society just gets softer and weaker ! Why ? There is topic for discussing ! Why ?? Why ??.....
