Well I’m waiting to get over pneumonia then off to have a giant titanium joint jammed into top of my femur. Age 53 had spine and elbow replacement but this seems worse considering I’m older but few people I know doing ok that are in 70s , though I will be back training . Not sure how long anyone have hip stories please post I’ll post my day to day after 2/26 right now pneumonia 2 weeks need to have my system checked for operation.

Wishing the best in getting well my man. Keep us posted on your progress. Stay strong and keep positive during your recovery.

Thanks Dragon ya know I been reaserrchin you guys ever hear Bill suoerfoot wallace ? He can do double split backwards kick a bag in half he’s got double hip replacement! I’m fact many stories of older martial artists getting actually more flexible post hip replacement. So I guess just making sure the process takes prevent infection then back to kicking ass ! By tax time I’ll be looking for the red zone lol

Phil Stevens (Powerlifter) is shooting for a 800 lb. squat on his artificial hip ( I think the meet is next month), so ya, you'll be back!

Best of luck to you man. Take your time with recovery. What back surgery did you have by the way. I've been dealing with several broken vertebrae for almost a year now. Still in a lot of pain. I'm supposed to have some nerves burned soon so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I shattered L4/L5 in Aikibudo 1995. No rods no screws . Shavings of hip packed around small titanium thimble plugged between decompressed area. Served as internal cast 3 months , 3 years to harden but I walked out of hospital 2 days . I was so bored watching game shows and Maury povich I got up 3 days after surgery walked 33 miles too beach . Took from 7am to 4:25. Then joined several gyms to figure how to workout using machines to avoid pressure on spine even found upside down one arm press lol however post surgery rehab included stiff dead’s, 90 degree hypers step aerobics and I was told never wear belt again - he said see how huge your arms are . Lol I’m like of course ha - he says make the muscles along spine strong to this day still do stiff dead’s , hypers , reverse hyper and nautilus lower back . I have no limit no spine pain ever again .now for hip surgery lol

Bet he must have industrial grade hip joints now...that be easy peasy for him!

Hoping for the best for you ketsugo and hope they fit you with a decent model so that it won't crimp your training style.

Better I recall my insurance covered everything, now $800 copay , no admission to hospital sucks

Shit, I couldn't walk to the bathroom when it first happened. I peed in a bottle and crawled to the toilet. They wanted me to raise my arms for the x-ray. That wasn't happening. Good luck with your recovery old man. I know the odds are against you surviving 6 months after hip replacement at your age gramps.
Just kidding dude, you know that. My mom had her whole hip replacement about a year ago. She's in her late 70's, broke it in a fall. They had her up walking, barely, the next day. It's fine now, I push her pretty hard. Yesterday I had the pleasure of driving her 2.5hrs each way to the nearest neurologist for her parkinsons. She's worth it though. Definitely the best woman in my life. You'll rebound quickly I'll bet.

Hola boys I am alive !! Yesterday had my hip joint replacement with huge titanium anchor today I’m sitting up did stairs with nurse ready to go home . Food here is great lol London broil supper oh man it was awesome considering I had to refrain from anything day before . Only complaint was maneuvering the urine bottle lol like my dick shriveled couldn’t hang it in there lol

I had fractured my vertebrae in L4/L5 so they basically decompressed the crack put two thimble size cages and then utilized liquified shavings of my pelvis to mold around the cages . Called a fusion but at the time this method was not approved by FDA as my doc invented it or his offfice did . Usually they used screws and rods . However the small cages served as internal cast for few took 3 months to set and 2 years to harden . I was successful my Doc said I recovered faster then anyone .

I had my right one replaced June 26,2017.I have a whole new 10 on my 1-10 pain scale now since that surgery The first 2 weeks after it we're hell on Earth!!!! After that it got easier.I'm just now really lifting with my legs again and so far it's going ok.I stay away from squats and movements like that for now.I have good days and bad days with it.Most days I don't feel it at all but others it feels like my leg is being pulled off or I get a stabbing pain in my growing!!! Sitting on hard surfaces sucks too.
